Where is Fertile Ground??

I know I know “When is the next Fertile Ground Show?” “Where is the new CD?” “Did the band break up?”
Well here is the latest on the band. Straight from the horses mouth. The band was performing regularly and plotting the course for a new album scheduled for release last year. The process came to a halt when Navasha Daya (Lead Vocalist) decided that making her solo album was extremely important to her and decided to make that her focus. The band was happy for the transition and decided to use the opportunity to make a record that featured the band and highlighted some of the awesome vocalists that we have always wanted to work with. So “where is the project?” — In my mind anxiously waiting to be recorded. During this transition I decided to take a dose of my own medicine and cherish the moment. I’m recently re-married, I re-located to Atlanta and I’ve finally (after 12 years of non-stop gigging) have taken some time to be just a husband and a father. The other members of the band have been grinding nonstop writing and performing across the country.
Mark Prince stays on stage and in the studio with everyone from Jennifer Holiday to Marshall Keys. His solo project “A Fraction of Infinity” has been getting airplay on several Jazz stations and is available for purchase online.
Ekendra Das (Percussion) just released his solo album “Ethnomusicology” it features everything from Latin rhythms to spoken word. An amazing project that is also available online. Check him out www.daspercussion.com
Craig Alston (Sax) and his wife recently celebrated the birth of their new twins. He has also been on his grind Teaching, leading the Eubie Blake Big Band, and performing with one of the many super bands that he often assembles. He has also been speaking of a solo project. We will keep you posted.
Freddie Dunn (Trumpet) Also recently married has been working on a new album as well as performing in the Baltimore/DC area. He was recently awarded the 2010 Maryland Arts Grant and has been anxiously writing for his debut solo project
So there you have it. I anticipate going back in the lab this Spring 2012 and I will post new music to this site and twitter as soon as it’s ready. I truly appreciate all our fans and the constant support that you have given us over the years. New Music Soon Come
Love and Light
James – Keyboards/founder/writer Fertile Ground
